Campus Awarded Combined $15 Million Grant

The Taube Foundation for Jewish Life and Culture and Koret Foundation Funds have awarded combined grants of $15 million to name the Taube-Koret Campus for Jewish Life. This exciting news was announced on November 4 in J Weekly and on the front page of the Peninsula section of the San Jose Mercury News.

“The Campus for Jewish Life brings essential state-of-the-art services and a prominent Jewish address to the South Peninsula’s significant Jewish population,” said Tad Taube, Chairman of the Taube Foundation for Jewish Life and Culture and President of Koret Foundation Funds, shown at left. “The Taube and Koret philanthropies view the completion of the Campus as perhaps the most important Bay Area project to advance Jewish culture and identity, and we hope that our gift will inspire others to join us in making this vision a reality.”

Now officially named the Taube-Koret Campus for Jewish Life, the project is moving rapidly ahead. “The imagination, planning and follow-through necessary to get a project like this off the ground are significant,” said Jeff Farber, Koret’s executive director. Koret is pleased to partner with the Taube-Koret Campus, financially as well as otherwise, to create a world-class center for the South Peninsula Jewish community.”

The Koret Foundation and the Koret Fund are private philanthropic organizations run by independent boards of directors. Since 1979, these boards have directed more than $315 million toward projects that reflect a new philanthropic vision for our region. An entrepreneurial spirit guides the Koret Foundation and its sister philanthropy, the Koret Fund, in addressing societal challenges and strengthening Bay Area cultural and community life. By investing in pioneering, strategic solutions, Koret helps develop models that inspire replication in communities across the nation and around the world. In the San Francisco Bay Area, Koret focuses its support on strengthening organizations that improve the quality of life in our region.

The Taube Foundation for Jewish Life & Culture is dedicated to understanding, appreciating, and sustaining Jewish life and culture, and to promoting the safety, well-being and prosperity of Jewish communities in Israel, the United States, and throughout the Diaspora. The Foundation supports a wide variety of Jewish educational institutions, social service agencies, arts and cultural groups, and other community organizations. A current major involvement is the Foundation’s development of the Jewish Heritage Initiative in Poland.

The Taube-Koret Campus will provide critically needed infrastructure for a large and growing concentration of Jewish population and agencies. This investment reflects the importance of the South Peninsula to the future of the entire west Bay Area Jewish community.
