City Approvals
IT’S “CHAI” TIME TO APPROVE THE TAUBE-KORET CAMPUS FOR JEWISH LIFE!
Mark Your Calendar Now for Monday, September 11 to Show Your Support at the City Council Meeting—The Campus will seek final project approval by the Palo Alto City Council on Monday, September 11. This meeting will be the 18th public hearing on the project over the past two years. 18 is a significant number in Jewish culture because it is associated with the Hebrew letter “chai,” which is the symbol for “life” and the expression “l’chayim!” which means “to life!” By approving the project and keeping it moving forward, the Council will help bring the vision for a multi-purpose, intergenerational Campus to life.
We urge you to attend this important meeting in person to show your support for the project and its importance to our entire community.
When: Monday, September 11, 7 pm
Where: Palo Alto City Council Chambers, Civic Center, 250 Hamilton Ave.
If you have not yet written to the City in order to assure that your voice is heard, please take a few moments now! Our sincere appreciation goes to everyone who has already taken the time to write. Your letters are an inspiration to the entire Campus team.
To Life! Street Festival
Visit Us at the To Life! Jewish Cultural Street Festival
The annual To Life! Jewish Cultural Street Festival sponsored by the JCC is just a few weeks away on Sunday, September 17 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on California Avenue in Palo Alto.
Be sure your Street Festival plans include a visit to the Taube-Koret Campus for Jewish Life exhibit, where we’ll have the latest model of the Campus on display as well as the exciting architectural drawings of the new Oshman Family Jewish Community Center and 899 Charleston, the senior living residences being developed in affiliation with the Jewish Home in San Francisco.
Senior Living Update
899 Charleston is now accepting priority reservations. As a new concept in senior living, 899 Charleston will provide unique connections to the South Peninsula, Jewish life, neighborhood living, and wellness support for the future. 899 Charleston will offer a total of 182 apartments for independent living, along with 11 apartments for specialized memory support. 35 apartments have already been reserved, following a series of focus groups recently held throughout the South Peninsula. Nearly 200 individuals attended these group meetings to learn about this planned community, including the amenities, services included in the monthly fee, preliminary floor plan layouts, and the fee schedule. 899 Charleston will be opening a preview center on Cambridge Avenue in Palo Alto, in early September.

As we prepare to present the Taube-Koret Campus for Jewish Life to the City Council for final approval, we want to encourage members of our community to attend in person and show their support at this very important meeting. We truly appreciate all the support we have received over the past two years of hearings and look forward to seeing many of you at City Council.
